Musician and cultural visionary Solange Knowles has unveiled her latest project — the Saint Heron Library, a free archive and lending space dedicated to rare, out-of-print, and first-edition works by Black and Brown authors, poets, and artists.
The Saint Heron Library is more than a collection — it’s a living archive designed to keep vital works in circulation while making them accessible to a wider audience. Readers will be able to borrow books for up to 45 days, return them through prepaid labels, and explore seasonal rotations curated by guest contributors.
As Solange explained:
“The Saint Heron Library is home to our archival collection of primarily rare, out of print, and 1st edition titles … we would like to play a small part in creating free access to the expansive range of critical thought and expression by these great minds.”
Readers can register through the Saint Heron platform, borrow works at no cost, and look forward to curated collections being added throughout the year. The project invites the public not only to read but to connect, learn, and celebrate voices that have long shaped culture.
