Newark, NJ is set to host one of its biggest music events as Mayor Ras J. Baraka kicks off the annual 24 Hrs. of Peace festival tonight (Sept. 5) at 6 p.m., running through Saturday evening.
The free event, held at South 10th Street and Central Avenue in the city’s West Ward, celebrates Hip-Hop’s power to promote unity, nonviolence, and joy. “This 24-hour event merges Newark’s vibe with Hip-Hop’s vibrations, creating transformation and celebration,” said Mayor Baraka.
This year’s lineup features Allure, Kool G Rap, Jacquees, RL, Case, DaBaby, Jadakiss, Scarlip, Zeddy Will, 41, DJ Taj, and more. Originally launched 15 years ago, the festival has grown from a neighborhood peace initiative into a citywide tradition bringing together families, artists, businesses, and community leaders for music, food, and fellowship.
