At just 21 years old, Lavar Scott is carving out his place in the world of motorsports. The New Jersey native, who comes from a family of drag racers, has turned his childhood passion into a professional career with Rev Racing and the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program.

Scott’s journey hasn’t been easy—he once lived in a camper while chasing his dream—but his determination paid off. After multiple combines, he earned his spot with Rev Racing in 2020, competing against seasoned pros while still a teenager.

In 2023, Scott made history as the first Black driver to win Rookie of the Year honors in the ARCA Menards Series, also finishing second overall in the championship standings. This year, he took another leap forward, making his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Reflecting on his family’s influence, Scott said his grandfather and uncle pushed him to be his best, even enforcing discipline with push-ups. Recently, seeing their pride brought him to a new realization: “Everything we worked for growing up is slowly paying off.”

With talent, resilience, and history already on his side, Scott is fast becoming one of NASCAR’s most inspiring young stars.
