Hot 97 is undergoing major changes, including the surprising firing of longtime DJ Enuff. While many speculated Funkmaster Flex had a hand in his departure, Flex firmly denied it during his final 7 p.m. show before moving to a new 5–10 p.m. slot.
“I would never have anything to do with anyone being fired—especially not my brother,” Flex said. “I’m too hot. Why would I worry about anybody else in here? Everybody grinds.”
Flex suggested that Enuff’s real problems came from people closer to him, pointing to those seen in a TMZ farewell video—including colleagues DJ Drewski, DJ E-Stylez, and DJ Lady S. Notably, Drewski has since taken over the station’s 11 a.m.–1 p.m. slot.
Despite the drama, Flex praised Enuff’s legacy, crediting him with pioneering Spanish hip-hop parties and influencing NYC nightlife over his 27-year run.
