Picking up shortly after the events of The Way of Water, Fire and Ash centers on Jake and Neytiri’s family as they struggle with the grief of losing their son, Neteyam. Their emotional journey sets the stage for deeper, darker exploration of Pandora’s shifting dynamics.

This chapter delves into a new, antagonistic Na’vi tribe known as the Ash People, or Mangkwan Clan—inhabitants of volcanic, ash-strewn territories who have rejected Eywa, the Na’vi’s spiritual deity. They are led by the fierce Varang (Oona Chaplin), whose hardened leadership reflects the cyclical nature of violence and loss that defines “fire and ash.”

The film also introduces a contrasting new faction: the Wind Traders, a nomadic clan of air-faring Na’vi traveling aboard massive floating vessels, led by Peylak (David Thewlis).
